The granite monoliths are calling...

The mountains are calling and I must go.
John Muir

My state of mind right now...distracted! I feel like that kid in the Disney World commercial, "too excited to sleep!" : ) We leave tomorrow for San Fran, and then Modesto on our way to Yosemite. Dropped Loui off at a friend's place tonight :( - I always forget how hard that is...the look on his face, the quiet house. I'm such a sap!

Bags are packed, we're ready to go! The mountains are calling... See you on the flip-side!

Back from Iowa City...

Just back from Iowa City last weekend after some great times with the Iowa SDP cohort, etc. Not sure what it is about good old Iowa City, but it sure can recharge you! Friday night at The Mill reminiscing about Drew's first live shows back in the day, Saturday listening to the guru grads of the Iowa program discuss the future of student affairs, and then Sunday to wrap it up at Blue Grass Days with the Swanson clan. : )

And it begins...

It's a random Thursday, and here we go. Drew is knocking out some Green Day on Rock Band, and Loui is laying across my lap, cat-like, trying to interrupt my typing.

Seven days and counting until the honeymoon, and I can't wait! I could give all of you who don't know the long story, but the short one is easier. We planned a 10 day trip to Yosemite National Park in California for late June, thinking of huge waterfalls, warm days and cool nights as we backpacked our first couple of days. Mother Nature is not currently cooperating however, so we're anxiously watching for any new postings to let us know what roads are open, how much snow we'll be hiking through, and whether the cables are up for summitting Half Dome! Either way it will be an adventure, and we're ready. A little nervous, but ready. We think... : )
